Laser Hair Removal

Permanent hair reduction using selective photothermolysis. The right wavelength and pulse width protect the epidermis while disabling the germinative cells.

How it works

The 1983 Anderson & Parrish principle of selective photothermolysis is the foundation: melanin in the hair shaft and bulb absorbs a specific wavelength of light, which converts to thermal energy. If the pulse width is shorter than the thermal relaxation time of the follicle (roughly 10-100 ms), the heat destroys the follicular epithelium without spreading to surrounding tissue.

Hair grows in three phases: anagen (active), catagen (regression) and telogen (resting). Only anagen hairs respond because melanin is present. This is why multiple sessions spaced 4-8 weeks apart are required.

Recommended platforms

Pmise DL-07 - 808nm Diode Laser

The gold standard. 808nm penetrates to the mid-dermis where the bulb sits. Suitable for Fitzpatrick I-IV. Fluence 2-80 J/cm2, pulse width 10-100 ms.

Pmise MF-05 - E-Light IPL + RF

Filtered broadband light (610-1200nm) with bipolar RF for cost-effective hair reduction in lighter skin types and larger areas.
